Ideas for tumblr apps
- Tumblr Messages
A conversation-style desktop application that keeps a record of sent and received messages and orders the threads according to ‘messagarity’, an algorithm that takes into account date last updated and all-time message count between two people. When somebody changes their url it would still be in the same thread, in fact you would get url change notifications. There would also be a separate tab for anon messages organised by date, cataloging the responses of all the anon messages you have sent with an option to group them into conversations. - Follow Back
A web-based app that has a bar at the top detailing the percentage of people you follow who also follow you back; underneath there would be two columns, one for people that do and one for those who don’t. - First Post
You put in a photo’s url and it pushes back a chronological list of blogs who have posted the photo (not reblogging). It would also aggregate the text that’s added to the post including annotations from reblogs. - Lists
This would have to be built into the tumblr framework. I, like many, follow a few blog genres, wouldn’t it be handy to be able to sort them into categories (like photoblogs, humour, darren criss appreciation..) and have options at the top of the dash to filter posts so only one category is shown at a time.
I have so many of these ideas floating around my brain, maybe in time I’ll have enough knowledge on web development to bring some of these into fruition. If tumblr had all these features I would pay for it. Seriously. Bring on tumblr premium accounts.
